The International Confederation of Blue Cross Blue Crescent Organisations (ICBCO), otherwise known as the #InternationalConfederation, is a confederation of non-governmental organisations forming a humanitarian agency of the International Blue Cross and Blue Crescent movement.
The International Confederation forms unique organisational unions and brings together a network of humanitarian non profit community service organisations, non governmental organisations, social enterprises, commercial enterprises, church missions, and fraternal organisations etc., that have come together under the confederation's umbrella.
In times of crisis when the scale and urgency of a disaster calls for decisive action, our committed Confederation Members are available to quickly respond, and collectively raise the much needed support to provide effective and swift humanitarian assistance to reach vulnerable people in crisis.
The scale of modern humanitarian challenges frequently exceeds the coping capacity of individual humanitarian organisations, whereas together, we will be stronger and better able to overcome these humanitarian challenges, united under the emblems of the Blue Cross and Blue Crescent.
The International Confederation's fundamental objective as mandated by the International Movement is to work with its partner member organisations that become part of the confederation so that together we can be a strong force in responding, organising, coordinating, supporting, sponsoring and overseeing the direction of our National Societies, National Cooperatives, National Collectives, National Parties and National Confederacies.
Under the confederation umbrella, we also bring together a network of small, grassroots NGO and CSO organisations, and projects, who's activities may otherwise be overlooked and where confederation members collaborate and endeavor to promote and support each others organisations to enable them to have the greatest impact on people's lives.
The International Confederation would like further collaborative partnerships with other small unsupported humanitarian organisations so if you run a humanitarian non profit community service organisation, non governmental organisation, social enterprise, church mission, then you may be interested in your organisation joining the confederation and becoming a key participant in our National Societies, National Cooperatives, National Collectives, National Parties and National Confederacies, so we can be 'stronger together for all humanity' in providing relief assistance and supporting large-scale emergency crisis.
'Stronger together for all humanity' emphasizes that our confederation partners are critical to address the humanitarian challenges in our communities, the country and around the globe. The International Confederation believes in harnessing the strength of humanity through our partnerships, that enable us to build resilient communities that have the capacities to cope with the social, political, economic, health and environmental disparities that contribute to their vulnerabilities. We thank all our confederation partners for their support in helping us care for vulnerable people through the humanitarian actions of our National Societies, National Cooperatives, National Collectives, National Parties and National Confederacies.
The International Confederation's work respects the Movement's fundamental principles, as defined by the International Commission, and endorsed by the International Conference, notably those of humanitarianism, volunteerism, moralism, transparency, impartiality, empowerment, sustainability, neutrality, benevolence and respect.
